CoD Killer?

I've been waiting for Battlefield 3 for a while now and I have to say- this next installment has a real chance of knocking the Call of Duty games right off the top spot in the next step in the world of FPS. Here's why, the people that were big fans of Battlefield 2 are going to come back because they found it to be more difficult  and more realistic than MW2. It wasn't  as bug ridden and hacker prone as the CoD games were either and that is a big plus. Everything about the previous 2 titles says that this one is going to improve 10 fold over the last game and I think thats nothing but trouble for the frustrated fan base of CoD. It really is starting to feel like CoD has stopped trying. And that said, Black Ops is the best CoD to date and I think they will improve the next game by a lot but the other FPS are already taking steps that CoD hasn't really done anything with. Vehicle warfare and crippled body parts are just some things that BF2 had and BF3 will improve on. Even something as simple as being able to mount your LMG to a brick wall, or destructible environments  is steps ahead of where CoD needs to be.

Graphics wise, I think that CODBO did fine with the environments but the characters and guns in the game seem cartoony and poorly done. If I wanted cartoony graphics, I would play Halo. The game just looks flat out amazing and I can't wait to get my hands on it. I really look forward to seeing how well it does and how fast Black Ops falls because of it. I really wish this could be more in depth, but I need to get my hands on the game first! I hope to get some thought and opinions from you guys!

  2. I think it will be a lot better than the previous title. They seem to be doing everything right and on top of that, they are keeping it very quiet, and usually that means good things.

  4. I want to dislike this for being another FPS...and yet I'll buy it and hours of my life will vanish to it...and at the end I'll want to hate it but secretly love it

  5. I love fps. Right now all I play are those and Madden. I only play Madden, because I love the look on a guys face when he loses lol! I would love to get on a new RPG but FF has lost its luster and I didn't like Dragon Age as much as everyone else did.

  7. I wouldn't say it's a CoD killer, it's a slower paced game (at least the older games were) than CoD, and therefore appeals to a slightly different audience. CoD really is an evolution of the Quake games, very fast paced kill die and respawn team deathmatch, whereas Battlefield is far more focused on zone control and teamwork. I feel like the faster games will always have a broader appeal, having deeper gameplay mechanics also mean that it'll take longer and more dedication to get into... helicopters take a good deal of time to learn how to fly properly but once you do you can dominate a game, that tends to scare people away.

that said, I'm looking forward to this and wish I had a proper gaming rig to play it on

  12. Battlefield 3 is going to be sick. I'm a big fan of Bad Company too though. I hope that BF3 doesn't have TOO large of maps so the gameplay gets slow.
