Xbox 360 vs Playstation 3

When it comes to shear processing power the PS3 runs circles around the 360. On the other side the 360 has more exclusive games and downloadable content that is available for almost a month over other platforms. So what side does one choose? On paper that stats for the PS3 says that big things are comong and coming fast. Huge games with amazing graphics and out of this world environments that you could interact with in every way. But where is it, where is all this break though content that we were promised? With Uncharted 2 and God of War 3 we thought it was here. And when Killzone 3 comes out, maybe thats what I've been looking forward to, but it just seems like they aren't trying surpass everyone to me. Then you take a look at the 360 and see that it was out almost a year before the PS3 and easily has 2x times the content because people refused to wait and bought the 360. And that head start really did a lot to stop the PS3 from being progressive. And they had another chance when they made some half assed attempt to improve on Nintendo's motion controllers but Xbox 1-uped them  again with the Kinect. The PS3 got cocky and thought since they ran the industry for 15 years they could show up late to the game and still outsell everyone . But that didn't happen, All that potential power just sits there, waiting to be unleashed but still, for the most part it seems like nobody cares. When are they going to finally tap into the power of this machine and finally give us something INNOVATIVE. I want you to pull through this slump Sony, I really do but you've shown me nothing to prove that you will be leading the way again anytime soon.

There have been opportunistic times that have come to Playstation to never have been in the situation that they  are in now. Its like they just forgot to show up for the meetings. For instance. you knew after the 1st day that the Halo franchise was going to be a huge success. What did you do to compete with it? You sure as hell didn't make an effort to get the exclusive rights to the Call of Duty franchise, you didn't worry about keeping the Final Fantasy contract. You sure as hell didn't put your development team to work on a FPS thats was going to have a shot at toping the Halo game and sling-shotting your system to the top for good. As far as I can tell you didn't do a damn thing about any of it and now are trying to scramble for answers. This is why I don't feel bad about turning my back on you Playstation. You lost an extremely loyal fanbase because you got lazy and cocky. I know many many people that don't even care what you do now because they have the 360 and are happy. If you ever want to be on top again you need to start spending some goddamn money and put some shit on the table that Mircosoft has to try to catch up to you on. If you don't do that, you might as well just stick to tvs because there wont be many more chances. If the new Xbox hits shelves before Sony comes out with something new and innovative, Playstation might as well just give up.

Of course these are my opinions, and they may not mean much on a grand scale but I just miss my playstaion and wish that they weren't such dumb asses. Please let me know what you guys think!

  1. xbox is currently easier to code for. a lot of developers aren't fully utilizing the potential of the PS3. I think it's a great system, on paper...but until theres more content that takes advantage of what it can do, I'd go with xbox.

  2. I like the Xbox, but I don't like the idea of having to pay for Xbox Live.
    If Xbox Live was free I probably would have bought an Xbox a long time ago.

  4. Same thing happened with the Xbox and the PS2 - the PS2 was poorer but came out first, and the xbox failed to reach its potential because of that.

  5. @Anon Reader: The first Xbox only struggled because it had no reputation in the eyes of console gaming. That and it had nothing close to the games that Playstation had.

    @Raw: Paying for Xbox live is the reason we get content before anyone else. It won't be long before the others fall in that line.

    @Body1: you creep me out

  6. @Anonymouse: Is the reason 360 easier to code for have anything to do with the PS3 converting to blu-ray?

  7. I considered posting the link to this on Playstations twitter to see if I get a response. Anyone else think I should?

  8. Totally agree. But it pwns to have both! If one had to choose between the two, I would say 360, though. Unless you want to wait and have faith in the PS3's upcoming progress, that is. I will say, potential wise, the PS3 is definitely a contender. One thing it has over the 360 (other than its exclusives and power) is that you have the option of paying for extra stuff (Premium service), but online multiplayer gaming is still possible even if you decide not to pay.

  9. I wish I could have both because there are some PS3 games that I would really like to try out, like Uncharted 2 and God of War 3. But I want one of the 1st or 2nd edition systems fuck those slim ones, they look like Cracker Jack toys. I should really look at getting one I'm sure they are probably getting cheap online.

  10. I have the slim actually. One thing I can tell you is that it's a hardcore dust magnet! Oh gosh! But if you're interested in the backwards compatibility, then yes! That's always a winner. Yes, those two are some of the best exclusives. I'd also like to throw in Heavy Rain. Very unique game.

  12. Prices are still too high, I wont pay over 150 for a used one and they are all over 200, with a few exceptions, but those few exceptions scare me.
