Kinect

The Kinect is a revolutionary piece f gaming equipment thats been ut for a few months now so I decided to write a review on it.  It uses both body and voice recognition so you can interact with your xbox in ways you never could before. Your body and voice take place of your controller and give you a new way to play video games. All of this is great for kids or people that don't really play video games, but when it comes to the hardcore gamer this stuff is just a gimick that yu shouldn't buy into. Nothing about it is precise enough that it would be feesable for anything other than the family fun type games that they make for it. Plain and simple if you have a young family, you should buy this because you can have a lot of fun with it. But everyone else, save the money and buy some new games. This technology needs a good 10 yrs before its actually useful to us hardcore gamers.

  2. Good review, I think you're right.
Maybe Kinect 2 will be a lot more advanced.

  3. The bad thing is that they haven't announced any new games, you are still stuck with the ones that were released along with Kinect last year. Same thing for the Playstation Move. Save your money !

  4. yeah, idk about another 10 years, i think they could make a useful version with current technology, but it would be too expensive for the consumer market. hopefully something can be done about that because it seems like a neat concept if it could be executed a little better.

  5. @anonymouse:I just meant one way or another it won't be available for serious gamers. It may not take 10 years for the Kinect system can me useful, but it will take at least 2-5. But thats just what I think.

  6. @gekomaster You're right I don't know how these things are selling. They are trying to market them to families, but there is no software to go with the system. They wanted the jump on PS3 and I just think that they are failing on this one so far. We'll see what they can do with it in the next few years, hopefully the 1st thing is figuring out what they are going to do with the damn thing. LOL

  7. I agree with everything apart from the ten years; I agree that it will vastly improve in a short amount of time, but every gamer I know is lazy and personally if I have to move anything apart from my thumbs, it feels too much like exercise. On the other hand it was brilliant when I was drunk!

  8. Serious gamers are interested in the Kinect, we just find no use for it. Its not as responsive as it needs to be, the mic doesn't work very well,I could go on for days about it, but won't. It just needs a little more time for us to decide if this really is the next step in gaming.

  9. I think it's neat that games have been branching further out to reach a more casual audience.

This is definitely not something that I'm going to be picking up myself, but I can see how it could appeal to families.

One of my fondest childhood memories is of playing a Ninja Turtles game on the SNES with my Dad. Good times. : )

  10. I'm not saying that it's bad thing that the family market is where they are getting sales right now. What I'm saying is that the video world isn't dominated by families, its dominated by people like me that want these products to perform a certain way. If it doesn't perform to the hardcore gamers standards, it will not last in this world, just ask Virtua Boy.
